2×4 Hospice Opens
On July 5th, COFI Japan’s Kevin Bews attended the open house for Family Hospice Kamonomiya. Some of you may recall that I wrote an earlier piece on this project in May while it was under construction. Well that is history nowadays and this attractive 3-Storey 12 unit 2×4 fireproof building has now been completed. With a total floor area of 916 m², the hospice was designed and built by a local architect firm and contractor in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. As far as I know it is the first hospice in Japan to be built with platform frame construction and what is interesting to note is that the architect for this project had no previous experience designing 2×4 buildings. Anyways there is no point for me to continue writing on… As the old adage goes, “Seeing is Believing” and you can check it “inside” and “out” via the YouTube video link below.
