Advanced Technology Construction Training Evolves
The 8th Advanced Technology Construction Training program, firstly planned and conducted in November of 2005, welcomed 31 Korean participants this year to Vancouver from February 13 to 22, 2013. The group, consisted of builders, designers, developers, construction managers and students, was one of the largest delegations from Korea and also one of the most diverse in their professional backgrounds and in their ages, which range from 20’s to 50’s.
As participants’ backgrounds have become more diverse also the needs have diversified, and Advanced Technology Construction Training has evolved into a most comprehensive training program for the Korean wood frame construction industry over the years from the one which focused mainly on construction technology associated with wood frame multi-family multi-storey housing to a one which includes topics and site visits covering master planned community, Super E, Quality Assurance and Inspection as well as building science, fire and sound control and the merits of using wood and innovative use of wood.
As the Korean wood construction industry grows, the training program will face new challenges but one thing will always remain true: Seeing is Believing. Having Koreans over to Canada to show them the advanced technologies in action will always be the most important part of the training.
