Alberta Talks Green in Korea
Canada Wood Korea in collaboration with the Province of Alberta and Alberta Forest Products Association held Round Table Discussion and networking dinner on February 24, 2012. CWK invited 50 architects, builders and media to the meeting to promote the sustainable forest management of Canadian forestry industry and use of Canadian wood products, and to provide technical information and case studies for new wood applications in non-load bearing infill and partition walls (Wood Wall) in high rise residential and commercial buildings and decorative use.
The market opportunities for wood use in non-load bearing wall and decorative applications are growing as the Korean government’s Low Carbon Green Growth policy and the Long Life Housing Initiative are being implemented.
The term “Wood wall” is coined by CWK to differentiate and brand wood frame non-load bearing infill and partition wall applications from other wall systems such as light gauge metal stud framing, masonry or ALC (Autoclaved Lightweight Concrete) panels and blocks.
