Architectural & Structural Design Workshop attracts hundreds of Korean designers
Canada Wood Korea held the Combined Architectural & Structural Design Workshop on January 15 at COEX conference room in Seoul as a core concurrent program of the 2016 Housing Brand Fair held for 4 days during January 14 to 17.
The 2016 Housing Brand Fair drew the attention of visitors particularly with the Canada Wood Industry Pavilion that was arranged by BC Wood, a member association of Canada Wood Group in collaboration with various wood product companies of Canada including Baker Manufacturing Inc., Interpro Forest Products, Kettle River Timberworks Ltd., Pan-Abode The Original and Tolko Marketing & Sales Ltd.
CWK invited two renowned guest speakers on structural design and architectural design for wood frame buildings to deliver technical knowhow on basic structural systems and design keywords in wood frame building design and construction for local architects, academia, structural engineers, general contractors and designers who are familiar with small-medium scaled buildings with concrete/steel structures but have limited knowledge or experiences of wood frame structures. Wood frame building system has become more and more popular among architects and designers. A total of 108 professionals were participated in and stayed until the end of the full day workshop, reflecting their interests in wood frame building.
Mr. G.G. Kim of Doohang Structures, a registered structural engineer presented a definition on wood frame structure and explained about building code, design loads, fundamental structural systems in wood frame construction in detail while Prof. J.S. Song, a registered architect emphasized on 10 useful keywords in architectural design for wood frame buildings.
