As Korea’s wood frame construction market continues to grow and diversify into duplexes, townhouses and multi-family housing from single detached houses, in spite of global financial crisis, the transfer of advanced building technology is more important than ever to equip Korean builders and designers with skills and knowledge necessary for designing and building larger and complex buildings with Canadian wood products.

The7th Advanced Technology Construction Training for Korean Builders and Designers was conducted from February 5th to 15th, 2012 in Canada. Participants attended in-depth classroom lectures on various subjects ranging from building science to net zero energy, quality control and inspection at BCIT Downtown Campus and made field trips to construction sites and wood buildings in Greater Vancouver and Whistler areas.

For most participants, leaving their job sites and offices for 11 day trip for the training in Canada wasn’t easy decision, but it was time well spent as reflected by some of the remarks made by participants;

– What I learned and saw has been a life changing experience for me as a builder.

– This has been the great chance for me to reaffirm the future prospect of what I am doing when I lost sight of it.
