CAN-KOR Wood Design Competition-Best 5 (CAN-KOR WDC) is a special wood design award program developed by Canada Wood Korea in collaboration with the Embassy of Canada as one of the concurrent events of CELEBRATION2013 (http://www.celebration2013.kr) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic engagement between Canada and Korea.

CWK invited 30 University professors nationwide and held the opening ceremony of CAN-KOR Wood Design Competition in order for them to grab the background of this competition and CWK’s University & College-Based Training program on January 22 at Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul. CWK also launched a WDC website, www.wooddesign2013.kr to give more information to students and professors.

A total of 47 teams from the 19 Universities submitted the design panels to Canada Wood Korea. Three Judging Committee members, Mr. Nam Ho Cho of Soltos Architects, Gi Chan Son of Dongi Architects and Jae Seung Song of Michoo Architects selected top 10 panels out of 47 at CWK office on May 30, 2013. Then top 10 nominees made 5 minute presentations to the Judging Committee at CWK office. After the presentations the Judging Committee selected BEST 5 and FINALIST 5. Inha University team won the Canada Wood & Ambassador special award. CWK will provide University based training to the Inha University and the students put the design work into practice along with special theory lectures. Both the professor and a student of Inha University will be participated in the advanced training program to Canada arranged by CWK next year. Award winning ceremony will be held in Korea Foundation Cultural Centre, Seoul on July 8, 2013. Top 10 design works also are planning to be displayed at ‘Canada Wood & Architecture Exhibition’ until July 26, 2013.
