Canada – Korea Wood Festival 2018: University-based Training in Busan
Canada Wood Korea in collaboration with five universities in Busan city and Yeongnam Chapter of the Korea Wood Construction Association, has successfully completed another Canada – Korea Wood Festival held in Busan, the second largest city in Korea. Eighty-three architecture and design students from five universities have participated in the Festival for six days from September 11 to September 16, 2018.
The festival is designed to combine wood frame construction training with social contribution. Students attend lectures to learn the benefits of using wood and wood frame construction and as practical training they build small playhouses which will be donated to child care facilities. This year students have built eight playhouses and decorated them with cartoon characters popular with children.The Festival was held in conjunction with CWK’s participation in the 2018 Busan Kyunghyang Housing Fair and five universities including Don-Eui University, Dongseo University, Silla University, Dong-A University and Pukyong National University. Many Canadian organizations and companies have donated gifts for students.
