Canada Wood Hosts Minister Donaldson & Industry Leaders Mission
Coming in at just under 40 participants, Canada Wood hosted the largest BC MFLNRO and industry leader’s mission to date. The mission was held on November 16th and 17th. On day one mission attendees participated in a Japan strategy breakfast session and Embassy briefing, site visits to the Doggy Island PFC hotel construction site, 2×4 panel and truss plant CS Lumber, the Tokyo Lumber Terminal port facilities, the Japan Home Show and the Canadian Embassy for a reception of over 100 key Japanese industry forest products buyers and stakeholders. On November 17th Minister Donaldson participated in a briefing with Ambassador Ian Burney, the BC Trade and Investment Office as well as with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation & Tourism (MLIT) to learn about public policy measures to encourage the use of wood in Japan.
