Some 40 Chinese architects and developers visited B.C from March 1-8. The purpose of the mission was to inspire and stimulate Chinese designers/developers’ interest in modern timber structures as well as to gain a better knowledge and first hand exposure to how wood can be used as structural material in various applications. While in B.C., they learned about timber building practices saw some world class timber buildings in Vancouver area; visited timber production facilities, and met with Canada architects to gain a better knowledge on timber structures design. The group also attended Canada Annual Wood Design Awards Gala. The event was a real eye-opener to everyone on how wood is used in different applications.
