A delegation of 23 Chinese construction professionals went on an eight-day mission to BC in order to engage in technical exchange activities for modern wood frame construction technology. Since most of the delegates already had some basic experience with wood frame construction, they were very interested in exploring innovative wood frame solutions during their visits to various wood frame jobsites and pre-fab factories that included the Richmond Olympic Oval and the VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre.

The delegation also attended the Global Buyers Mission in Whistler and was impressed by new WFC products displayed at the show. Many delegates collected a handful of product information from Canadian suppliers to bring back to China.

The trip also included a visit to a vocational school to give the delegation a more concrete understanding of the wood frame training and education system in Canada. This part of the mission was especially useful for the four Chinese vocational school teachers in the delegation, but also gave developers and builders some perspective on how to cooperate with vocational schools to foster a professional pool of wood frame talents for the increasing market demand.
