UFV Trades, Chilliwack, BC. August 4-22, 2014

Mark Ryan, Carpentry instructor at UFV, instructs the Chinese delegation of 16 about water proofing foundations at the Algra Bros. Brixton Station townhouse project in Sardis, BC.

Nine Chinese instructors from trade schools across China along with seven building company representatives have completed the first week of their 3 week wood frame construction program at the University of the Fraser Valley. The program consists of 50% classroom instruction, 35% hands-on training, and 15% project visits. This is the first program of its kind and hope that it will continue to grow. Chinese instructors will take their knowledge back to China where they will instruct Chinese students enrolled in wood construction courses. The company reps attending the class are excited to return home with an official course diploma / certificate from the University of the Fraser Valley which they feel will give themselves and their companies a competitive advantage.
