CW China and leading precast concrete company cooperate on research of wood infill walls
On May 26th 2017, Canada Wood China’s efforts to promote wood for prefabrication took yet another step forward ——— CW China signed an MOU with Truslink on the “research, development, promotion, application and cooperation on prefabricated non-load bearing energy-efficient wood wall (short as “PEEWW”) technology in Wujin Green Construction Industry Demonstration District, Changzhou Jiangsu Province. It marks that CW China and Truslink will launch deep cooperation comprehensively on PEEWW system’s research, development and promotion.
With the witness of guests from local government, officers from Canadian Consulate to Shanghai and some staff from CW China, Eric Wong, and Managing Director of Canada Wood signed an MOU with Yang Deming, Managing Director of Truslink. After the signing, guests attended the opening ceremony of Truslink’s manufacturing base. Ryan Baerg, Vice-Consul & Senior Trade Commissioner of Consulate General of Canada to Shanghai and Eric gave an opening remarks during the ceremony.
Together with CW China, Truslink, as a leader company of precast concrete field, will take the lead on developing the PEEWW project’s design, development, testing and inspection. They will also help compile a standard of precast concrete structure with PEEWW.
This MOU signing is a milestone for CW China to promote “Industrialized Construction” campaign. The challenges the industry currently faces include uncertain cost viability, lack of familiarity and limited technical capacity in industry. Under the MOU, both parties will work together to build a demonstration building at Truslink’s factory. This demo building provides a reference and foundation for future research and development of the applications of wood infill wall solution.
Through the construction procedure of demo building, from design to build, we can practice and test PEEWW technology, understand how to optimize the production and installation of prefabricated wood components within an actual construction project.
This building will be used as office for Truslink’s staff as well as a show room to receive clients and visitors.
Concept design and construction drawings were completed by CW China’s Technical Services team in March and April respectively. Crownhomes has been appointed to prefabricate the infill walls and installation will start when the site as well as the precast concrete parts are ready.
