Former Vice Minister Qiu Baoxing wins Green Building Council Chairman’s Award

Mr Qiu Bao Xing, former Vice Minister with the Chinese Government’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MOHURD) awarded the Chairman’s Award from The World Green Building Council

Mr Qiu Bao Xing, former Vice Minister with the Chinese Government’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MOHURD) won the Chairman’s Awards from The World Green Building Council to acknowledge for his leadership, which helped elevate green building to the government policy agenda. Until his retirement from the Ministry in June, Mr Qui was responsible for urban planning and infrastructure, building energy saving and technology, natural and historical heritage protection, water pollution prevention and town and village development . Mr Qui was responsible for the establishment of the China Green Building Council and drove the development of China’s 3 Star system. The World Green Building Council Chairman’s Awards are given to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the global sustainability movement.

Former VM Qiu has been our high level key contact in MOHURD  and he took lead in establishing the Joint Working Committee to promote WFC in tackling the climate change. He has been working very closely with NRCAN, BC Government, Canada Wood and FII in China. Mr. Qiu also wrote the foreword for one of our key promotional brochure “Building With Wood”.
