Is the Concrete Jungle Turning to Wood!?
A very large 2×4 wood structure, the second of its kind, is now being constructed in one of most populous cities in the world. And believe it or not, it will be right next door to Tokyo Dome, serving as the home stadium of the Yomiuri Giants professional baseball team, will soon start to see an SPF wood structure popping out of the ground.
When you think of Tokyo, the first thing that comes to mind is certainly not wood. It’s a large modern city of neon-lit skyscrapers, a city that is famed for its vibrant food culture, trendy teen fashion and anime scene. As most people can imagine, it a huge metropolis which boasts a vast transport network that includes public and private rail and an elevated highway network to get everyone efficiently whisked to here and there. But from within this concrete jungle, we are seeing more wood buildings and different types emerge like this one, a four-storey 5,370 square metre fireproof building that will be known at the Rakuwa Villa Bunkyo Kasuga Nosato Nursing Home when it is completed later next year.
Yes, I know the photo doesn’t look so much like a wood structure today, but wait and I will get back to you in a little while and you will see where she is at…
