On February 14 MOAFF announced the formation of a new Japan CLT Association with an objective of stimulating new end uses for wood products. This development illustrates is how the Japanese wood industry and government are joining forces to develop potential demand of Sugi lumber as CLT planks.  The Association, although its official name is yet to be determined, will be classified as a public profit organization supervised by Forestry Agency.  It will start with three member companies initially; Meiken Kogyo, Length and Yamasa Mokuzai.  Meiken will play a role as a president company.  Future plans also involve expanding membership to building industries and architect offices. Canada Wood Japan will continue to liaise with the association to provide information support on Canadian trends in CLT.
