Jiangsu Province forms innovation alliance for wood construction industry

Representatives from Nanjing Tech University and Jiangsu MOHURD unveiled the plague at the event.

Key players in construction industry have joined hands to establish a new alliance in Jiangsu to promote wood construction application in the eastern Chinese province.

The Jiangsu Modern Wood Construction Industry Alliance, which under the guidance of Jiangsu provincial MOHURD, has got 41 members onboard, including Canada Wood China and other industry heavyweights such as Nanjing Tech University, Suzhou Crownhomes Co and Jiangsu Architecture & Design Institute.

The new alliance that launched on December 14th, 2017 in Nanjing marked the province’s long time efforts to promote wood construction in the region, said Liu Dawei, Deputy Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Construction Department, at the launching ceremony.

Wang Hua, General Secretary of Jiangsu Civil Engineering Society, also commented that wood/ bamboo hybrid construction is the most environment-friendly way of construction and shall be more applied to projects such as resorts or tourism destinations.

The association will also be a platform to encourage more cooperation between its members while members could also share business opportunities, industry information etc. via seminars, forums and field trips, according to a guideline issued by the association.

The alliance could also be a platform for CW China to expand its influence in the sector and get more potential clients to better understand wood structure.

More than 240 industry professionals from universities, research institutes and construction design companies attended the launching ceremony. All the members are required to come together every two years to discuss about industry updates.
