KIA-CWK Seminar Draws Large Professional Audience
More than 150 design and construction professionals attend wood frame construction seminar
Canada Wood Korea (CWK) in collaboration with the Korean Institute of Architects (KIA), chaired by Kwang Man Lee, who is also the President of Gansam Architects and Partners, one of the largest design firms in Korea and a participant of developer mission to organized by Canada Wood, have successfully conducted Wood Frame Construction Seminar for Professionals on July 19th, 2013 in conjunction with Canada Wood and
Architecture Exhibition held at Korea Foundation Cultural Centre Gallery in downtown Seoul for three weeks until July 26th.
The seminar speakers included Tai Jeong, Country Director of CWK who presented the activities of CWK and status and case studies of wood construction in Korea and Canada, Jae Seung Song, the Principal of Michoo Architects, who introduced new 2013 version of WFC Design Details which
contains numerous details for conventional wood frame construction, and John Szarapka, Building Inspector with Township of Langley in BC who explained how Canadians conducted plan review and inspections for wood frame buildings and provided templates of check lists which can be adopted to best suit the needs in Korea.
It is not easy to gather more than 150 professionals in a seminar, but the combination of seminar topics which are relevant for the growing interests in wood frame construction among design and construction professionals and their desires to learn more on design and construction of wood frame buildings packed the seminar room to its full capacity and made them stayed alert and attentive until the end of the seminar.
