KWCA’s 5 Star Quality Assurance Program Celebrates 200th Certification
The Korea Wood Construction Association (KWCA) and Canada Wood Korea (CWK) have celebrated the certification of the 200th house under the five-star wood construction quality assurance program on October 11th with two sisters (owners of the house), Haus Style (Designer and Co-ordinator), KS Housing (the builder) and other guests invited for the ceremony including Kug Bo Shim, the head of Wood Construction Research Division, representing the National Institute of Forest Science.
The five-star program, a voluntary construction quality assurance program delivered by KWCA, was an initiative first introduced and supported by Canada Wood as part of technical support for the local wood frame construction industry through the MOU between Canada Wood and KWCA signed in 2009. Since then it has become one of the most important programs and self-sustaining programs of the KWCA.
And in 2018, the KWCA has introduced the combined five-star and Super-E Certification program to further improve the quality of houses in terms of energy performance, healthy indoor environment and comfort and to build upon the success of the five-star program. Six projects have already applied and are under construction.
