The Aomori Social Welfare Corporation is at present constructing its second 2×4 fireproof project, a medical care complex to compliment and support its other senior care facilities in the area. The project called the Michinokusou Medical Care Centre is a 2-Storey 2,370 m² building and upon completion in July, the 2×4 structure for this building will have consumed roughly 400m³ of SPF dimension lumber in its construction. The project is located just down the road from the Kanaya Michinokusou Nursing Home, another PFC project that this social welfare corporation constructed and completed in April of this year. For both these 2×4 structures

the architectural firm was RAB Kaihatsu, the general contractor was Hokuto Kensetsu, and the SPF lumber and OSB sheathing for these two projects was supplied by Japan Kenzai, Hachinohe Sales Branch. The Aomori Social Welfare Corporation’s managing director and section chief (Mr. Tatsumi Nakayama & Mr. Kenichi Oridate) were invited by COFI staff to attend the 2011 Nikkei Senior’s Symposium/Seminar in Tokyo and who also participated in COFI’s Elderly Care Tour Mission to Canada in March earlier this year.
