Midply Forum Attracts Builders and Designers

12On December 16th, 2015, the Centre for Better Living, one of the MILT-designated performance evaluation bodies in Tsukuba City, held a “Midply Forum” where they conducted a seminar and shear wall test demonstration.  The turnout was approximately 25 participants, including housing companies and structural designers who gathered not abcdonly from Tokyo area but also from even regional areas such as Toyama and Shizuoka prefectures.  Structural expert Okazaki-san first explained what COFI has done for Midply technical projects in a seminar, followed by a shear wall test to quadruple Midply Wall System.  The participants especially were excited to see the extremely high resistance against the seismic force.  The Midply specimen did not show the ultimate load of 141.7kN until the displacement angle was 1/15 radian.  As shown in the photo, no nail pull through or bending occurred despite that the framing lumber showing significant damage.
