On a recent BC mission to Asia, while they were traveling in Japan, Minister Steve Thomson and top industry executives from Western Canadian lumber companies toured Wing’s Shiroi Factory in Chiba Prefecture. Wing Co., Ltd.’s head office is located in Tokyo and the company primarily imports SPF dimension lumber for sale and distribution in Japan. It owns and operates three 2×4 factories in Chiba, Fukuoka and Miyagi Prefectures. The largest of these three factories is the Shiroi operation in Chiba which produces and sells pre-cut 2×4 lumber and panel

products to local builders and housing companies predominantly in the Kanto region. Production capacity for the Shiroi factory is impressive – 500 (pre-cut 400 & panel 100) units of 2×4 framing packages are turned out monthly here. The company also has two sales offices located in Fukuoka and Tohoku and a corporate branch office in Vancouver for mainly procuring SPF dimension lumber for its operations and sale and distribution throughout the country.
