Non-Residential Starts June2018
Between January and June, wooden non-residential starts totaled 9,056 units representing a total of 1,666,012m2 of total floor area. Translated into forest products demand, non-residential wood consumption is roughly estimated at just under 300,000m3 for the first six months of 2016. By segment, the top wood uses in non-residential construction were 1. Medical, Elderly Care & Welfare facilities (75,182m3); 2. Mixed residential & commercial (example: sushi shop on ground floor, residences above) 45,520m3; 3. Restaurants & Accommodation 26,929m3; 4. Agricultural buildings 24,345m3 and 5. Commercial wholesale & retail 17,729m3.
