A new midsize elderly carefacility, Nursing Home Otsukawa Yawataien begins operations. The nursing home is located in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture and will provide care for 61 senior residents in the community. This is the third elderly care 2×4 fireproof building to be completed in this prefecture. The two-storey facility is 2,300 m² consuming roughly 390 m³ of SPF dimension lumber in its construction. The architectural firm was Toshi Design, the general contractor was Murakami Komuten, and the structural package for this project was supplied by Kita Kanto Wing. was possible after checking COFI’s Japanese website. The architect for the project, Mr. Shozo Baba of Toshi Design had no prior experience designing buildings with platform frame construction, but became convinced after participating in two elderly care seminars COFI conducted and coming out on top of a design competition for the project.
