Seminar for Wood Multi-Storey and Multi-Family Building Market Development Draws Large Number of New Architects and Engineers
The Korea Wood Construction Association (KWCA) and Canada Wood Korea (CWK) have successfully conducted a joint seminar, which was attended by more than 110 professionals including architects, designers, engineers and builders on August 25, 2017 to promote the development of wood multi-storey and multi-family (MS-MF) building market in Korea. Many of the architects and engineers have attended wood related seminar for the first time showing growing interests in wood and wood buildings in Korea.
The seminar has started with introduction of benefits of using wood and proceeded to code requirements for fire resistance and sound insulation, 5 Star Quality Assurance program, and current status of MS-MF in Korea and concluded with Q&A session and 5 speakers – Dong-Heup Lee, Ph.D., Managing Director, KWCA; Chi-Yeol Ok, Research Fellow, Construction Certification Center, Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT); Se-Jong Kim, Ph.D., National Institute of Forest Science; Jeong-Lo Park, Ph.D., Team leader, KWCA; Ki-Cheol Bae, Principal Architect, Innovative Design Studio (ids) – for the seminar represent the best of the experts in Korea.
This seminar, held at the International Conference Room, Korea Institute of Registered Architects (KIRA) in Seoul, was approved by the KIRA as equivalent for 1 Hour of Continuing Education for Registered Architects.
