A new project, a small elderly care home is under construction in the capital city of Hokkaido, Sapporo, by local contractor Takeuchi Kensetsu. The project is a two-storey post and beam structure (425 m²) that was designed by Nishikawa Architects using SPF dimension lumber in a hybrid post and beam wall panel system with OSB sheathing supplied from Canada. OSB structural panels will also be used for sheathing the roof of this project and once the building is completed and becomes operational in April, the Gokigen Sanhana Elderly Care Home will be the new residence for 25 seniors – providing them with daily care and medical assistance in the community.
