Two, three and now four-storeys… Mr. & Mrs. Yamada, the owner’s of Manten Social Welfare Corporation are on a roll and just keep going up… The married couple joined COFI’s Elderly Care Tour Mission to Canada in 2010, and now is constructing their third 2×4 project. The couple first built a “2-storey” nursing home in Shiga Prefecture in 2012, and then a custom built “3-storey” dream home in Osaka, and now they are building a “4-storey” nursing home near where the couple lives in Osaka. Their third project is the biggest project that they have contracted to be built so far. It is a four-storey 2×4 fireproof building with a total floor area of 2,295 m², in which about 390 m³ of SPF dimension lumber is consumed. It is the 1st large 4-storey 2×4 structure to be built in Osaka, and only the second of its type to be built in Japan. Here is to hoping they can make it a five-storey building one of these days…
