Canada Wood Korea in collaboration with 5 universities – Don-Eui University, Dongseo University, Silla University, Dong-A University and Pukyong National University – located in Busan*, has successfully completed the University-based Training program titled as Canada-Korea Wood Festival 2017 from September 11 to September 17 for 7 days in conjunction with CWK’s participation in the 2017 Busan Kyunghyang Housing Fair (Korea Build).
*Busan is the 2nd largest city in Korea located on the southeastern tip of the peninsula
85 architecture and design students, the largest number of students that ever participated in a CWK training program, have completed the WFC training program consisted of 2 days of lectures at Pukyong National University and 5 days of practical training of building playhouses at the Outdoor Exhibition Area of the BEXCO.
This university-based training is unique as it combines training on wood as the building material and WFC for future architects and designers and contribution to society by donating the playhouses they built and painted. This year, 8 playhouses were completed and donated to local childcare facilities and kindergartens.
Many students have worked hard and late to complete the playhouses on time and many organizations and companies also have contributed for the success of the festival, including Korea Wood Construction Association (KWCA) member companies and Yeongnam Branch, Samhwa Paints, Embassy of Canada to Korea, E-sang Networks to name a few.
