Canada Wood Korea in collaboration with Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology (GNTECH) has completed University based training at GNTECH in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do. The training started from June 24to 28. A total of 36 students including 13 Architecture, 3 Environment Engineering and 20 Interior Material Engineering students participated in this training program. The fundamental theory of wood building design and build theory lectures along with model making class were delivered on the first day.

The practical training for the building of two small scaled wood houses, so called ‘Playhouse’, constructed for four days. The working drawings of the Playhouse were given to the students. Then, they measured and cut the wood in length and framed the wood components, and applied the wood sidings and boards to weather the Playhouse.

Prof. Rah of GNTECH said “The Department of Interior Material Engineering is planning to create new curriculum based on this training program so that the students could be given academic credits once they participate in and complete the program.” The completed wooden Playhouses will be donated to a local children’s facility and Canada Wood Korea provided course completion certificates to the students for their career build-up.
