We Love 2×4
We all know Mitsui Home loves 2×4. Well I had a wonderful experience on Valentine’s Day that really reinforces the coined phrase the company has – We Love 2×4. You see my wife decided to take a day trip to Kamakura on that well known and celebrated “love day” when all those cupids go buzzing about strategically placing arrows in young lovers hearts. For those of you who don’t know Kamakura, it is small city about 50 kilometres south-west of Tokyo which used to be the de facto capital of Japan during the Kamakura period. It has a popular beach which, in combination with its temples and proximity to Tokyo, makes it a popular tourist destination. Well the last thing I had on my mind that day was work, as we headed out the door of our Tokyo apartment. To my pleasant surprise, about half way through our little excursion, I heard a soft and rhythmical thumping sound resonating in the distance. At first I thought it was the sound of love, a heartbeat perhaps, but as we strolled closer I realised that down-to-earth sound (tu-tum, tu-tump tu-tum) was not some young lover’s heart, but some sort of pneumatic nailing device. As I peered ahead into that glistening blue sky I could vaguely make out what looked to be a large light brownish mass – was this 2×4 – I remembered thinking to myself!? I asked my dear wife, as all good husbands do, for permission to make a slight detour from our chosen romantic route to inspect what it was I thinking was a 2×4 building under construction. Drawing nearer, her bare 2×4 silhouette took shape in my gazing eyes and a light breeze carried a slight whiff of a pine perfume. It was indeed a wooden angel from heaven which I have not seen alike. A tall wooden skinned framed princess in all her glory – it was love at first sight!! A new building going up (2,380 m² / 4F) by Mitsui Home and I just kept on thinking yes, “We Love 2×4”, that’s certainly is right and slept oh so peacefully that night.
