Yuriage Public Market Opening Creates Media Splash
On May 4th Canada Wood celebrated the opening of the Yuriage Public Market Project in Natori, Miyagi. Yuriage was the second project completed under the Canada Tohoku Reconstruction Project. Restoration of the popular public market facilities drew a record attendance of 15,000 citizens on the day of the opening and a total of 28,000 people over the three day long weekend in Japan. The event generated strong interest from local television broadcasters and news media. A total of 19 stories were featured in print and online media and the ceremony was covered 6 television networks. The earned media value equivalent is estimated at approximately CAD $860,000.
