Market Development Strategy for the Value-Added Wood Industry

The overall objective of the strategy developed by MNP LLP was to help establish the value-added wood industry priorities for future investments in north American/offshore markets development and promotions. The report contains a description of the criteria and rating scale that were used to identify the sectors to be included, an overview industry’s key success and risk factors, and an analysis that discusses economic indicators and market conditions in priority and other markets. The conclusion outlines the key findings and recommendations, as well as high-level strategy maps for each of the recommended strategies.

South East Asia Strategic Review

Undertaken by Indufor Asia Pacific, this review involved in depth market research in key South East Asian countries (Indonesia, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) and a survey of the Canadian wood products industry. The report outlinesthe key findings and strategic recommendations for the Canadian industry to develop its business in South East Asia.

Mapping China’s Wood Remanufacturing Industry

The International Wood Markets Group recently performed an assessment of market potential for Canadian lumber in China’s remanufacturing sector. The project consisted in a review of existing exports and company level data, a survey of the major Western Canada sawmilling and exporting companies and meetings or phone calls with Canadian stakeholders to discuss their business in China. The objective was to determine the current mix of Canadian products/species/grades/sizes exported to China that are being used by local manufacturers and distributors servicing the remanufacturing sector.
