The 2019 BC Wood Design Awards nominated three projects from Korea under the International Category.

1.Seo Hyang Gak -Studio The Won

2.Chalet Boomerang -Studio The Won

Designed by Studio The Won, the two projects—Seo Hyang Gak and Chalet Boomerang were nominated by BC Wood Design Awards in 2019. Prior to that, the two projects received prizes from Korea Wood Design Awards in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Mr. Gye-yeon Won, the founder of the studio, is an architect who completed the KWCA-WUC Architect-Inspector Training Course, a Canada Wood sponsored, association-based, advanced wood frame construction training program designed for architects, engineers and builders.

Canada Wood training program has seen more graduates who now become advocates of wood construction in Korea.

3. “The Gifts: 5” -Design Research Innovation Lab at Inha University

The third project called “The Gifts:5” was designed by the Design Research Innovation Lab at Inha University. This experimental architectural project was the result of collaboration among the architect, Canada Wood Korea and City of Anyang. The wooden pavilion serves as the social setting to provide community residents with a space to rest, relax and network.
