CWC to cultivate local talents for wood prefab with key industry stakeholders
Canada Wood China has agreed to work with two key industry stakeholders to cultivate local talents for wood and hybrid prefabrication.
Executives from Canada Wood China, the China Association of Construction Education and Shanghai Lenyer Technology Co. kicked off the cooperation at a launching ceremony at Tongji University in Shanghai on March 17th.
The group pledged to work together on modernizing teaching methods in construction education, especially on wood and wood/hybrid prefabrication. Canada Wood is expected to offer expertise in wood structure construction, as well as wood prefabrication projects.
The China Association of Construction Education is affiliated with China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and has over 900 member companies. Shanghai Lenyer is a leader in the country’s construction industry and has been working on prefabrication projects for more than 20 years.
As a sustainable construction method, prefabrication has been listed as a key area for development within the industry. The Chinese government is promoting prefabrication in engineering construction through a series of incentives, including floor area allowances, cash bonuses and tax exemptions. The prefab ratio (by volume) in the construction industry is expected to reach 50% by 2025 from just 3% in 2015, according to China’s State Council.
