The “Green Book” is the PFC structural calculation manual published by Japan 2×4 Home Builders Association. The Green Book is a key publication that the local building officials should refer to when they issue the building permits. Revision work has been underway for the Green Book and COFI is one of the editorial committee members. The upcoming manual revision includes how Midply should be designed in PFC buildings. According to schedule, the revised Green Book will be published in November 2018. Subsequently, seminars to explain the revised Green Book manual content are scheduled to take place in the major cities all over Japan. After the seminars, it is expected that the local building officials, designers and the builders recognize the Midply Wall System as the PFC shear walls officially positioned in the Building Standard Law. This code recognition is a result of COFI’s multi-year research and development program to have Midply accepted into code and thereby offer the next level of 2×4 seismic performance.
