Canada-Korea Housing Committee meeting held in Ottawa
The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Korea’s Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs (MLTM) met in Ottawa and Toronto from October 28 to November 1 to exchange views on housing policies and technologies, as per commitments made in a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2005. Director General Sung Ho Park of the Housing Policy Division, MLTM, led a delegation of 10 representatives to Canada for a two day session in Ottawa and a side field trip to visit the Regent Park Affordable Housing Urban Renewal Project and the Waterfront Development Project in Toronto. The Canadian delegation included representatives from CMHC, Natural Resource Canada, NRC-IRC and Canada Wood Group.
Topics discussed in the session were housing market updates, recent Canada-Korea collaborations, measures to mitigate urbanization pressures, sustainable housing and urban renewal projects, technical studies and senior housing initiatives. Tai Jeong, Country Director of Canada Wood Korea was also included as a Canadian representative and presented “On Campus Training in Korea” as a part of the recent Canada-Korea collaborations session.
