SUMC (CW’s Shanghai vocational school parter) held an opening ceremony in January for the new Wood Frame Training Center that was built by cooperation between CW, Crown Homes and SUMC.  This project was originally proposed in early 2011 as a wood frame building to showcase wood frame construction that would be used as administrative offices and a classroom/meeting room for CW to hold our wood frame training courses.  The building not only serves as a classroom, but also a teaching tool as various parts of the structure have been left exposed and labeled for instruction.  The building was designed by CW and FII staff and built by Suzhou Crown Homes.  We used this project as a training exercise for Crown Homes staff.  We assigned an experienced construction specialist as construction manager with one assistant and they together trained a group of about 20 Crown Homes employees and contractors along with students from SUMC.  Construction began in July of 2012 and completed in the end of November.  The building is now ready for use and will be the venue for our next Intro to Wood Frame Building Systems course in March.
