On May 23rd, COFI Japan’s staff visited another first of its kind 2×4 fireproof structure being constructed in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. This project is being put up by a local builder,Iwasaki Kensetsu Kobou based in that city. The project is 12 unit 3-storey hospicewith a total floor area of 916 m² which utilized about 155 m³ of SPF dimension lumber in its construction. The architect for the project, Mr. Tadashi Takahashi of Kairos Company, decided to design this particular facility in wood after discovering it was possible to build this
