Heating up the hospitality sector
FII India has been working with Evavo Wellness LLP, one of India and South Asia’s leading wellness solution providers, to expand the use of B.C. wood species in premium sauna applications. Since 2004, Evavo Wellness has specialized in feasibility planning, design, engineering, and turnkey execution of spas, saunas, clubhouses, and wellness facilities for top hospitality brands. With FII’s support, they have successfully delivered more than ten sauna projects in India’s leading luxury hotels and wellness facilities using B.C. wood species.
Evavo’s relationship with FII India began in 2017 through an initial email enquiry, followed by meetings at trade events and participation in FII’s educational seminars. Over time, the teams continued to connect through regular factory visits and technical support, helping the company transition to B.C. wood species. This collaboration led to a full mock-up sauna at Evavo’s Mumbai showroom to demonstrate performance, aesthetics, and durability to their clients.
As India’s wellness and hospitality sectors expand, there is increasingly more interest in using materials that combine performance, longevity, and a sense of luxury. As a result, B.C. species are gaining recognition for luxury wellness applications. This is why Evavo Wellness chose to use western red cedar and western hemlock for their saunas. Both species are valued for their durability, dimensional stability under heat, natural thermal insulation, and visual appeal, making them well-suited for premium sauna installations. FII India’s technical support helped ensure the materials met Evavo’s design and functional requirements, including availability and technical specifications.
A recent example is the sauna installed at TimberTales Luxury Resort in Coorg. Surrounded by coffee plantations and dense forests, the resort required a sauna that complemented its natural setting. For this project, Evavo Wellness selected western hemlock for panelling, creating a warm and inviting space while maintaining durability and performance under high-heat, high-humidity conditions. The TimberTales sauna draws on their experience using B.C. wood for saunas in other luxury hotels, such as JW Marriott and Fairmont in Mumbai. The success of these projects has opened further opportunities for Evavo Wellness and created more demand for B.C. wood products. They are now in discussions with one of India’s leading bathroom fittings manufacturers to produce more saunas using B.C. wood.
