Canada Wood Korea and the Energy Efficient Exporters Alliance (EEEA) conducted an intensive 2-day workshop on HOT2000 energy simulation software for architects and builders. The 2-day workshop has successfully provided basic but complete understanding for performing proper energy simulation using HOT2000 starting from taking-off necessary data for input from house plan and to actual input and to optimization for Super E Standard compliance at the end of workshop.

HOT2000 software, developed and being maintained by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), is best suited for simulation of wood frame buildings as it takes thermal bridging of wood structural members into account. It can determine the annual energy use and will aid in design for thermal effectiveness, passive solar heating and the operation and performance of heating and cooling systems.

The workshop was delivered by Jack Zhou, NRCan Certified Energy Advisor and EEEA Technical Advisor with experiences of modelling several thousand houses using HOT2000 software. He has also prepared comprehensive teaching materials, presentations and resources and delivered the workshop from January 29 and 30, 2019 at Canada Wood Korea office in Seoul.
