Iwate Prefecture Builds its First 3-Storey 2×4 Fireproof Structure

A medium sized fireproof elderly care rental apartment, Shofuku-No-Sato, is now under construction in a ward in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. It is the first three-storey 2×4 fireproof structure to be built in the prefecture, located about 530 km north of Tokyo. Morioka City is the capital of the prefecture with an estimated population of 300,000 in the Tohoku region of Japan. The project, classified as an assisted living apartment complex for seniors, contains 22 rental units and a day care service centre for graying citizens in a local ward of the city. The total floor area for the 3-storey project is 1,180 m², consuming about 200 m³ of SPF

The senior apartment will be owned and managed by local company, FP Silver Support Co., Ltd., whose president, Mr. Masaru Shimogawara, participated in one of COFI’s elderly care & project visit seminar (Nursing Home Tokiwaen in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture) in 2011. The facility was designed by Mr. Yukihiro Hakuto, President of Azusagawa Architects & Engineers and the general contractor for the project is FP Home Service Co., Ltd.
