A beautifully designed and built large platform frame elderly care facility will open its doors in Obu, Aichi, Japan on May 5th, 2015. Obu is a city located in Aichi Prefecture with a population of approximately 90,000 and is bordered by the metropolis of Nagoya to the north. This project, a private nursing home and will be the largest PFC building in Aichi Prefecture. The facility is a three-storey 2×4 fireproof building with a combined total floor area of 3,900 m² which consumed about 660 m³ of SPF dimension lumber in its construction. The private nursing home is comprised of 90 units for full time senior residents. The architectural firm for the project was Nicom, the general contractor was Tokai Build, and the structural wooded materials for the project were supplied by Marusho Shikosaka. The owner/operator of the project is elderly care service provider based in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture named Spiritual Nature and is the fourth 2×4 elderly care facility that the company has built since it began operating in 2005.
