Midply Shearwall

Canada Wood promoted Midply shearwall systems to thousands of visitors at the 2019 Busan Kyunghyang Housing Fair, one of the key building and housing product fairs in Korea.

Midply is a high capacity shearwall system developed by FPInnovations for Japan and Korea. Unlike traditional 2×4 frame walls, the nails of a Midply wall work in double-shear, increasing the lateral load capacity. At the Busan Housing Fair, Canada Wood Korea organized an international workshop called Wood Wall Bracing Design for professionals and architecture students. The workshop was designed to introduce various lateral force resisting system options for wood-frame structures, including prescriptive wood-frame braced wall provisions for small-scale wood structures, engineered shearwall with metal connections and high performance Midply shearwall systems.

There is growing interest in Midply shearwall as a viable, high-strength option in the booming residential and non-residential construction markets in Korea.
