Non-Residential Wood Opportunities in Osaka Region
On September 20th and 21st NRCan Director, Jeff Biggs visited the Osaka region with Canada Wood’s Shawn Lawlor to learn further about market opportunities for non-residential wooden construction. Pictured above, we visited the Osaka Federation of All Wood Industries’ new headquarters in Osaka. The two-storey structure features a variety of hybrid wood assemblies and will serve as an attractive showcase for the possibilities of wood in non-residential construction. The building also features a large SPF NLT display on the first floor. Osaka Federation Chair Mr. Ushio Tsuda indicated his enthusiasm for the market opportunities of NLT in Japan. The second highlight of our trip was a visit to Yumejima Island, the future site of the Osaka 2025 World Expo. Our partners in Osaka are eager to collaborate with BC and Canada on wooden construction in the next Osaka Expo. We held preliminary discussions on how we might work with our friends in Osaka on this initiative.
