Progress-on-SPF-Dimension-Lumber-for-P&B-Horizontal-DiaphragmsBased on the structural testing of SPF lumber in Post & Beam horizontal diaphragms with the FY2012-13 Canada Wood budget, evaluation work started this month with the technical experts from the top research community.  The committee consists of Dr. Yasumura of Shizuoka University (Chair), Dr. Kawai of Kogakuin University and Dr. Isoda of Kyoto University. The Centre for Better Living (CBL) has officially contracted with COFI to serve as the secretariat for the committee meetings.   On October 4th, CBL held the first committee meeting.  COFI Tokyo contractor Nihon System Sekkei completed the “wooden structure evaluation application”, a document that was submitted to CBL.  The first meeting went quite smoothly and the chair Dr. Yasumura commented that they may be able to give us the conclusion for the evaluation by the next meeting as opposed to our original expected timing after at least three meetings.  The next meeting is scheduled for November 8th.
