University based training with Keimyung University in Daegu City
Canada Wood Korea has successfully completed the University-based training program with college of Architectural Studies of Keimyung University in Daegu. This year, KMU named this program ‘2013 Wood Frame Construction Festival’ and hoped students would enjoy and learn more about the wood construction. The festival was held from November 3rd to 8th, 2013 and consisted of 42 students from six different departments of the college. They designed a wood pavilion by themselves, which will be installed at the small park
behind the college. CWK provided technical support for them to finish the working drawings. The first day started with theory lectures on wood frame construction design and build followed by the second day where the students started making the wood pavilion. Andrea Clements from the Canadian Embassy paid a visit to KMU on November 8th and delivered a special lecture on Canadian Forest and Wood Products. Prof. Kim, dean of the college, said at the closing ceremony that “this program was well organized and gave great help to the students and professors who do not have any experience of wood construction. KMU hopes to continue this program together with Canada Wood”.
