Canada Wood/COFI Japan recently developed a number of poster panels for use as marketing tools at events such as trade shows, receptions, and seminars. Four of these panels focus on the sustainability of Canadian wood products and feature messaging about:

    • Canada having the largest area of sustainably certified forests of any country;
    • How using wood is one solution to alleviate climate change and how the carbon footprint of Canadian forest product production, (including shipping from Canada to Japan), is very low;
    • The relationship between SDG’s and Canadian wood products, and,
    • How the massive yearly reforestation effort shows Canada’s leadership in forest management and sustainability.

    Another two panels feature the first volume of this years Case Study Newsletter about the AQ Group’s new 8-storey head office building in which Canadian hemlock was installed for the roof rafters.

    The Canada Wood Tokyo office supported a member company producing Coastal lumber that recently exhibited at the Japan Kenzai Fair in on August 22-23. These new panels were used to great effect to promote the sustainability of Canadian forest products. This company also had several of their customers exhibit their value-added products, such as western red cedar and remanufactured hemlock. As well, younger staff from 5 wood product importers assisted with promotion, which offered a valuable learning experience for them.

    Over 2 days there were 15,000+ attendees at this show and many booth visitors learned about the high strength and quality of Coastal lumber products, including Canadian hemlock, and how these products offer both building solutions and assist with climate change mitigation goals for Japanese customers. While we were unavailable to exhibit and assist in person, by supplying timely promotional tools we showed we are in the market to support our member’s strategies!
