Learn, Build, Donate! Intensive Wood Construction Training Course Coming to Gyeongsang National University
A cohort of 24 university students received the knowledge they need to build wood frame construction after a week-long intensive training program. The program was provided by Canada Wood Korea in collaboration with Gyeongsang National University (GNU) at its Chilam campus in Jinju City, South Korea.
The course provides a blend of theory and practicum whereby students gain hands-on installation experience with the light wood frame method. The graduation project is fabrication of a small 2×4 playhouses which will be donated to local childcare facilities.
“It’s critical that we are delivering relevant, hands-on training to help students master in-demand skills, while contributing toward an agile workforce with sustained and meaningful impact” said Tai Jeong, head of Canada Wood Korea.
Thanks to the consecutive funding by the Korea National University Development Project since 2019, the training program has enabled GNU to provide practical, industry-focused training courses to drive capacity building in the growing field of wood construction sector in South Korea.
