The “Optimal House” is a joint project between Canada Wood and Archiplatform-CASE, a subsidiary architectural company of Korea’s Dankook University. The development contains 21 single-family detached houses and was designed and constructed to optimize cost, energy-efficient performance and construction quality. The demo unit features Super E® construction and Mid-Ply shearwall systems.

This project is a benchmark of Canadian best practices for wood-frame residential housing, wood interior walls and Super E®/Net-Zero housing design — a concept set forth by Natural Resources Canada where a home produces all of its needed energy from renewable sources, releasing no fossil-fuel carbon.
