Canada Wood Participates in SGEC / PEFC Japan’s Osaka Kansai 2025 Expo International Forum

On May 12, SGEC/PEFC Japan hosted the Osaka Kansai 2025 Expo International Forum, aligning with the upcoming Osaka Expo 2025, which will feature extensive wood use in the Grand Ring and various national pavilions. The forum attracted 53 in-person attendees and 155 online participants.
PEFC representatives from Denmark, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, and Italy delivered presentations highlighting forest certification systems and international case studies promoting the use of sustainable wood. The program also included a keynote address from Japan’s Forestry Agency and insights into the design and wood applications planned for the Osaka Expo.
Canada Wood’s Shawn Lawlor delivered the opening remarks, providing an overview of the current status of forest certification in Canada. The forum served as a valuable platform for international dialogue, allowing participants to share experiences and explore strategies for advancing forest certification and green building practices worldwide.
