Canadian Wood Showcased at Canada’s National Pavilion at CIIE 2026
Canada is taking centre stage at the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai as one of this year’s two Guest Countries of Honour. Running from November 5 to 10, the event brings together businesses, government representatives, and industry organizations from around the world, providing a platform to showcase Canadian products, innovation, and opportunities for international trade.

Under the theme “Canada: A Natural Partner for Tomorrow,” Canada’s National Pavilion officially opened on November 6, highlighting the country’s natural resources, cultural diversity, and industry strengths. Inspired by the Rocky Mountains, the pavilion features a distinctive timber design that brings Canadian wood into the spotlight.

One of the pavilion’s most notable features is its use of wood sourced entirely from Canada. The mountain-inspired structure, with its natural timber elements and contemporary design, offers visitors a tangible connection to Canada’s forests and showcases the versatility of Canadian wood in architectural applications.
Beyond its visual appeal, the pavilion demonstrates how wood can be incorporated into modern design, reflecting Canada’s expertise in forest products and the growing interest in sustainable building materials.

Building Connections Through Trade and Innovation
As a Guest Country of Honour, Canada’s participation at CIIE provides an opportunity to strengthen commercial relationships and introduce Canadian products and expertise to the Chinese market. The pavilion brings together elements of Canadian industry, culture, and innovation, creating opportunities for engagement with Chinese businesses and visitors.
For the Canadian forest products industry, the pavilion offers a meaningful example of how Canadian wood can be used to create distinctive architectural spaces. It also highlights the potential for further collaboration in wood construction and design.
Through its ongoing work in China, Canada Wood continues to promote Canadian wood products, share technical knowledge, and support industry collaboration to advance the use of wood in modern construction.

The project is made possible thanks to the funding support from CanExport program.
